Taking notes with 33 Wines is as simple as checking a few boxes and entering a few basic facts. The flavor wheel in 33 Wines can be used to quickly recall a wine’s unique flavor long after consumption. For low values of the flavor, fill in dots near the wheel’s center. A Chardonnay is used in the example shown.

BREWING

Someone once said, "The difference between drinking beer and tasting beer is taking notes." Same goes for brewing. You'll never catch a commercial brewer without her brew log, used as much as a planning tool as a record for future reference. Good brew notes help you repeat great beers, but also help you refine your recipes (and process). 33 Brews is a homebrew log I designed for myself. I've been homebrewing since 2002 or so, and like many homebrewers, my recipes used to live in the margins of brew manuals, on random bits of paper and all too often, in my disorganized head. This book keeps your brew notes in an orderly and professional format, with unique features designed to improve your record-keeping. Based on the format of other "33" books, this journal does away with the flavor wheel in favor of an "Eater's Rendering" area that allows you to record the visual attributes of the doughnuts you sample. Think of it as a super sweet sketchbook. Take your tasting notes, using the checkboxes to note dough type and any fillings. Rate your doughnut on a five-star scale. You can record any other impressions with four lines of free space. Draw Your Doughnuts! Now for the fun part - draw your doughnut using your choice of art materials (I do have a deluxe doughnut tasting kit that includes three USA-made colored pencils, should you desire some help selecting the perfect pastry palette).
